Reality TV Meets Sports
Forget the Kardashians – if you’re in need of a reality TV hit that mixes your alliterative favourites and WAGs, Married To The Game is for you! Recently released on Amazon Prime, this series shares unprecedented access to the lives of the wives and girlfriends of renowned Premier League footballers during the summer break. If you’re a little nosy like me it’s the perfect watch to understand their lives beyond the WAG title.
A Cheeky Nando’s
Need another reason to have a cheeky Nandos? Well, we’ve got one for you. Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has just launched his very own hot sauce at the South African chain, entitled the “PERi-PERi Saka Sauce”. It’s being described as ‘sweet and fiery’, and is made with tomato, garlic, and smoked paprika – but still retains Nando’s signature spiciness. But if you’re worried you might not be able to handle the heat, you’re in luck: it only ranks at about the same level as ‘medium’ on the Nando’s PERi-ometer.
Follow the Hardest Geezer
If you haven’t heard of Hardest Geezer (aka Russ Cook) you’re missing out. He’s taken on the challenge to become the first person ever to run the length of Africa in aid of three charities. What exactly gives him the title of hardest geezer, you may be wondering? Well, during his run he’s been kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint by an armed gang. As his run comes to an end on the 7th April it’s a perfect time to follow along for the final leg of his journey.
Bank Holiday Fit Check
If you’re doing a spring wardrobe clear out this weekend you may be looking for some inspiration. Footballer Fits is the account you need to follow. It’s the place to find the best footballer fits in the game – from collaborations and new kit to training day outfits. If you want to go stateside you can follow their other account, League Fits, which shares the best looks from baseball, basketball, and American football.
Padel at Padium
If you hadn’t noticed, everyone and their mum is playing padel board at the moment. Why not get in on the action? It’s a fun cross between tennis and squash, originally invented in Mexico, and has won over celebrities including David Beckham, Lando Norris, and Rafael Nadal. As interest grows in the sport, courts are starting to pop up – like Padium, located right in the heart of Canary Wharf and the perfect place to introduce yourself to the sport.
Don’t Look Away From The Title Race
Easter Sunday sees a pivotal day in the Premier League title race, as plucky underdogs Arsenal take on the might of Manchester City at the Etihad. With other title rivals Liverpool playing earlier in the day at home to Brighton, we may have a better idea of where the trophy will be heading at the end of the season come Sunday 7pm. What better place to watch it than the buzzy, covered garden of Dalston’s The Army & Navy pub. Expect a raucous atmosphere from the resident gooners.
Get Your Steps In (Pub Edition)
After gorging on chocolate Easter eggs all weekend you may just feel the need to get a few steps in, and a pub walk is the perfect way to do so. The website AllTrails is a great resource to find local walks or trail maps, all of which you can change to meet your specific needs – like visiting a pub. You’re even provided with detailed reviews and photos from fellow walkers or hikers to help determine if it’s right for you.
Get Your Art Hit
With a weather prediction of rain all weekend, the Accidentally Wes Anderson Exhibition is just what you need. Following on from the social media phenomenon, this exhibition picks up where the TikTok trends left, with seven themed rooms, all with those distinctive Anderson aesthetics. If you’re unable to go this weekend, it’ll be running until the 10th May.
Cold Water Refresh
If you scroll through Instagram or TikTok you won’t be oblivious to the fact that everyone seems to be doing cold plunges or wild swims and sharing it online. If you can’t beat them, join them. London has many gorgeous lakes, outside lidos, and large ponds to use to get your ice cold hit ready for the new week. The most popular location of them all, though, is Hampstead Heath – which offers various ponds to swim or relax in. There’s even a Netflix documentary called “The Ponds” which shares the stories of the swimmers and sunbathers at the North London spot.
