Colmar, the Italian ski and outerwear brand, are celebrating their centenary, and to mark the occasion have teamed up with Californian visual artist Joshua Vides for a ten-piece capsule collection that embodies the spirit and sartorial know-how of Colmar.
The collection consists of two jackets and a reversible padded vest – all printed in with Vides’ signature graphic black and white stylings – plus a transformation of Colmar’s legendary 1970s Blue Avalanche jacket into a cashmere and wool Jacquard knit. The capsule is completed by two beanies, scarf, sweatshirt, a pair of pants, and a t-shirt.
Colmar was founded 100 years ago in Monza, Italy, and soon developed a reputation in the world of ski apparel. By the 1970s, Italian skiers were the best in the world – and they were all kitted out in innovative and technical suits from Colmar.
Joshua Vides was born in Palo Alto, California and is no stranger to the world of fashion, having worked in the past with well-known streetwear labels, as well as his own global sensation CLSC brand – which sees the 33-year-old apply his stencil artwork designs to high-end sneakers.
Of the collaboration, Vides said: “As one of the many champions and athletes who have inhabited Colmar’s history, I also feel like a competitive person. I think it shows through my artistic practice. When I saw reflected in Colmar such a profound idea of striving for achievement, I felt strongly inspired. And it all started from there”.
The unisex capsule collection is available online at colmar.com, and at the famous Milanese retailer, Antonio.
