British fashion brand Lyle & Scott has today announced a new global initiative supporting grassroots football. Entitled ‘Kits For Clubs’, the scheme will see the brand supply free football kits to amateur teams and small clubs across the world.
As superstars like Declan Rice and Enzo Fernandez are transferred for eye-watering sums and the finances at the top of the pyramid continue to tumefy, the funding gap between professional and grassroots football is growing ever bigger. Lyle & Scott’s campaign will provide clubs struggling through financial hardship with brand new strips in a range of designs, from classic block colours to retro-inspired argyle patterns.
All clubs – whether a weeknight 5-a-side group or a Sunday league pub team – are invited to apply to the initiative, which pays homage to the brand’s 150 years of heritage and footballing connections.
All kits are to be hand-finished in Scotland, in the brand’s hometown of Hawick, with customisation for individual player numbers and club crests. Should any team not yet have a club crest, Lyle & Scott plan to work the team to design that as well – to help each club create and develop their own identity.
Applications for kits can be made via the brand’s dedicated page https://kitsforclubs.lyleandscott.com.
